An independent house.
KBC LLC publishes work we'd want on our own shelves — edited with care, released with intent, backed long after launch day.
We publish the books that mainstream houses are too cautious to print and self‑publishing leaves too rough.
Every title on our list is acquired by a human editor who loves it, copyedited line by line, and given the typography and production it deserves. We pay our authors fairly, market them steadily, and keep their work in print.
No algorithms. No genre factories. No ghostwriters. Just editors, designers, and writers who care what ends up on the page.
Four principles
Editorial first
Every manuscript is read by a senior editor. Developmental notes come before contracts.
Fair contracts
Standard royalties start at 50%. Rights revert on reasonable terms. No hidden fees, ever.
Long tail
We keep titles in print. Authors are still promoted five years after launch, not five weeks.
Design that lasts
Typography, covers, and interiors are treated as craft, not checklist items.
How we publish
Query & acquisition
Send us a pitch, synopsis, and first three chapters. We respond within four weeks — a real editor, real notes, real yes or no.
Developmental edit
Structure, pacing, voice. Two to three rounds with a dedicated editor who knows your genre and protects your voice.
Line & copy
Sentence‑level polish, then copyediting and proofreading. Nothing ships with errors we could have caught.
Design & production
Cover commissioned by a working book designer. Interior typeset properly. Print and ebook, ready for every major retailer.
Launch & support
ARC campaign, retailer placement, and ongoing promotion. We back our authors after launch week, not just during it.
Read us, then query us.
The best way to know whether we're the right home for your work is to read a title from the list. Start with the catalog.
